SERVICES OFFERED


Pre-School Curriculum for our Pre-K 2, 3, and 4-year-old class.


Breakfast is served from 7:30 a.m. - 8:30 a.m.


Lunch is according to class beginning at 11:00 a.m.


Snack is served at 2:00 p.m.


NO OUTSIDE FOOD IS TO BE BROUGHT IN DURING BREAKFAST, LUNCH, OR SNACK TIMES. THE ONLY EXCEPTION TO THIS RULE WILL BE ON PARTY DAYS. MEALS AND SNACKS PROVIDED BY ABC CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER COMPLY WITH MEAL AND SNACK PATTERNS OF THE FOOD AND NUTRITION SERVICE, U.S.D.A.

ADMISSION PROCEDURES


1. Admission to ABC Child Development Center is open to any child.
2. Interested parents should call the day care and make an appointment.
3. All required forms must be completed and returned to the center on the child’s first day. The child’s current

TUITION RATES


1. Registration fee is due at the time of enrollment and annually September 1st thereafter.
  Single child registration is $50.00 and family registration (2 or more children) fee is $75.00.
2. The weekly tuition is due each Monday for the coming week.
3. No reduction in tuition is made for absences.
4. Full tuition is due for week in which holidays occur.
Fee Information

SCHOOL HOURS AND SCHEDULE


School hours are from 6:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Monday - Friday. The overtime rate ($1.00 per minute for the first five minutes increasing to $5.00 per minute for6 minutes and more) will apply after 6:00 p.m.

Please notify the center by 8:30 a.m. if your child will not be present for the day.
Please do not bring your child to the center during naptime (11:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.); we do not want the sleeping children to be disturbed.

ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE PROCEDURES


Every child must be signed in and out each day with the parent’s/guardians legal signature and the time of arrival and departure. Please do not send a child to pick up your child because the center will not release your child to a minor.


Parent(s)/ Guardian(s) should notify the center when someone other than the usual person will be picking up. ABC Child Development Center requires written authorization (on the Consent to Release form) from a child's parent(s)/guardian(s) to release a child to any person other than the parent(s)/guardian(s) or persons designated on the child's pre-admission form.


ABC Child Development Center is to be notified by 2:00 p.m. if your child is not to be picked up at school. Failure to do so could result in a penalty fee of $10.00.

HEALTH AND MEDICAL INFORMATION


An updated Certificate of Immunization (Blue card) signed by your child’s physician or the health department must be on file upon enrollment. A new certificate is required on/before the expiration date of the certificate on file.


Children must not be brought to the center if they have any of the following: severe colds, undetermined rash or spots, fever, upset stomach or other symptoms. Children must be free of fever, diarrhea, and vomiting for 24 hours before returning to the center.


Conjunctivitis (Pink Eye) Children must be on medication for 24 hours before returning to the center.


If your child becomes ill at the center you will be notified and be expected to pick him/her up with one hour.


ABC Child Development Center will not administer any medication. If a child requires medication, the parent must come to the center and administer it.


ABC Child Development Center will not apply sunscreen to children. Parents are encouraged to apply sunscreen before bringing their child/children to the center.

HOME / SCHOOL COOPERATION


Children should wear comfortable clothing, suitable for indoor and outdoor play. Children are encouraged to help to help themselves as much as possible; therefore clothing should be easy to get on and off. Rubber sole athletic shoes should be worn to the center. Sandals, clogs, and dress shoes are prohibited; they are safety hazard on the playground.


Each child must have a complete change of clothing at the center at all times, to be used for emergencies. All clothing must be labeled with your child’s name; we cannot be responsible for clothing that is not properly labeled.


Children shall not bring toys and books from home except for "show and tell" day (Your teacher will advise of "show and tell" day for her class). Items brought from home may be lost or broken and we cannot assume responsibility for them. Toddler and Pre-School children should bring a blanket and "sleeping buddy" for naptime. Infants, in accordance with The Department of Human Resources, will be placed on their back in their crib for napping without having anything in their sleeping environment.


Menus are posted in the entrance of the center for the parents to refer to at any time.


Food exceptions are made only in cases of medical necessities.


Parent/Teacher conferences result in better understanding and guidance for your child and are encouraged.


Each child’s birthday will be celebrated. Parents may wish to send cupcakes or cookies for the child’s birthday. No hard candy shall be in party bags. Parents shall not send invitations for parties to be held at the center.


The staff caring for infants and toddlers will provide written information for each parent concerning sleeping, eating, and toileting while at the center.
Parents are encouraged and welcomed to visit the center at their convenience.


Copies of the Minimum Standards for Day or Nighttime Centers may be obtained from the Department of Human Resources.

EMERGENCY PLANS


MEDICAL EMERGENCY
The center will call 911 and the child’s parent(s)/guardian(s) in the event of a medical emergency. If the parent(s)/guardian(s) or the emergency contact persons cannot be reached, the child will be transported by ambulance to the Children’s Hospital at the expense of the parent(s)/guardian(s) if required.


POWER FAILURE
The center has emergency backup lighting.


STORMS
In the event of storm warnings, the Toddlers and Pre-School children at the Bluff Center will be taken to the bathrooms. The Bluff Park infant department will be taken to the Nursery. All the children at the Wildwood Center will be taken downstairs to the hallway.


FIRE
Children will be evacuated through the nearest exit.

TRANSPORTATION POLICY

The transportation plan of ABC Child Development Center will at all times comply with the requirements for transportation as outlined in the Minimum Standards for Day Care from the State of Alabama Department of Human Resources.


ABC Child Development Center will require written permission form parent(s) / guardian(s) before transporting children.


Children will only be transported from school to the center, on designated field trips and activities, and in case of emergency.


Children will not be picked up at home or delivered home.


ABC Child Development Center will not transport children under 3 years of age.


Van drivers shall be responsible persons and have a good driving record and a current Alabama Drivers License and be over 19 years of age.


A Field Trip Transportation Checklist will be provided to the van driver prior to field trips. The checklist will be checked upon leaving the center, arriving at the destination, leaving the destination, and upon return to the center.
Following each field trip, the Field Trip Transportation Checklist will be signed by the van driver, returned to the person in charge at the center, and maintained with centers records.


When picking up from school an After School Transportation Checklist will be provided to the van driver and will be checked before leaving the school and upon leaving the van at the center. The checklist will be signed by the van driver, turned in to the person in charge at the center and maintained with the centers records.


The van driver is responsible for making a visual check of the van whenever children enter or exit the van.


Children and van drivers and any other adult passenger will wear a seat belt at all times.


Children will not be left unattended while on the van.


Children will be loaded and unloaded from the curb or driveway.
